I would also like to point out that I think Phil is an imposter. Afterall, how could a ground hog live so many years and observe... his nose is different. Unless they gave him plastic surgery to keep up his good, chubby looks.
Moreover, the normal life expectancy of a ground hog, or whistle-pig is about 10-14 years. In Wyoming, it's about 2 years and we refer to them as the devil land beaver. We have been foiled and bamboozled. Phil is dead. This is Petey or something.
You decide. Spring is sprung, but I beg to differ. Winter.Is.On.
So...go outside and run your lungs out...or something. You might reach spring someday.
And shoot the damn ground hog, don't wave a stick at it!

It won't be spring here for far longer than another six weeks. Maybe three months, if we're lucky. But probably more like four months.
Seriously, that whole groundhog thing is about the stupidest "holiday" one could have thought up. So what if Phil or his imposter see or don't see a shadow in Punxsutawney? Unless some little rodent pops his head out of the ground in my yard and tells me that winter is about to end, I am not buying it.
We western folk don't need an excuse to drink and act foolishly. Wonder how many adult beverages were consumed during the course of the observations?
As a resident of PA I concur! BTW it's all a conspiracy. They are breeding little Phils and sending them out to other states to take over the world.

I think the "early" spring thing will come...as it always does.
SO Mother Nature is giving us all the stuff she's been saving in the meantime...like SNOW and COLD.
AT last the Groundhiog has got a 50/50 shot at getting things right...better average than most weazther people.
